COVID-19 update - Wednesday, May 20, 2020

Services at all county facilities are now available by appointment only, at a minimum.  Some county facilities are able to provide additional in-person access opportunities. Staff is on duty to provide assistance by telephone and email, and to provided limited in-person appointments. 

Voting is provided curbside in the courthouse parking lot through 5 p.m. on Monday, June 1st, including Saturday, May 30th. A banner on the north wall of the courthouse provides instructions for accessing curbside voting services, or call 319 462-2282.

A DROP BOX is now located in the courthouse parking lot near the brick garage. It is emptied several times each day by authorized personnel and is under 24/7 video surveillance. Citizens may use the drop box for documents and payments for the Auditor, Clerk of Court, Recorder, and Treasurer. The drop box is a secure receptacle for voted ballots to be placed in.

Passport Services in the Auditor's Office - remain suspended. Call 319 462-2282 to discuss available options.

JETS Transit - most services are now available - call 319 465-6564 for more information.

Senior Dining -  congregate site meals remain suspended. Frozen meals are being delivered to Seniors - click here for more information or call 319 462-4484 for more information.

The availability of all county services may change at any time as we address the safety and health concerns of our our customers and our employees.


Primary Election - June 2, 2020 - click here for candidate listings, absentee ballot applications, voter registration, precinct maps and office hours.

Due to the COVID-19 public health emergency voters are encouraged to vote by absentee ballot. Friday, May 22nd is the last day ballots can be MAILED to voters.  Curbside voting is offered in the courthouse parking lot Monday through Friday until 5 p.m. on Monday, June 1st, and including Saturday, May 30th from 8 - 5 Watch for the Vote Here signs and the banner on the courthouse wall with simple instructions. 

The polls WILL be OPEN on election day, June 2, 2020 from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m., with health safety measures in place.




Iowa Department of Public Health News Release: Certificate Exchange

Newborn birth certificates issued from May 1993 to October 2009 after the birth of a child in Iowa as a wallet sized card may be exchanged for a standard sized certificate.  Please read the News Release for more information or call the Jones County Recorder at 319-462-2477, as we may be able to facilitate the exchange locally in our office.


Alert Iowa  is live in Jones County! In the event of an emergency or severe weather, an alert can be sent to the phone number(s) you provide by voice and/or text and you can also register your email. If you know of someone that does not have access to the internet, please aid them in signing up. Veterans Designation on Drivers' License or NonOperator ID

Iowa veterans can now add a Veteran designation to their drivers license or nonoperator identification cards. PLEASE NOTE, this designation can only be added when the license or identification card is being renewed, or, if you are being issued for the first time. (For example, if you are moving in from out of state.) A link to the required form can be found by clicking here. Your County's Veterans Affairs office will need to complete part of that form before the designation can be added to your drivers license or identification card.
