Want to vote from home this fall? Click here to get an absentee ballot request form. Ballots will be mailed beginning October 5th to voters who have a completed request form on file. October 24th is the last day absentee ballots can be mailed. In-person absentee voting will be offered at the Courthouse beginning October 5th through November 2nd. COVID-19 update - Monday, June 29, 2020 - Phase II Re-Opening
Appointments are still required for drivers license services, motor vehicle services (i.e. titles, plates, registrations), and property tax services. Call the Treasurer's Office at 319 462-3559 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
All OTHER offices at the Courthouse are now open for walk-in traffic, subject to health screening measures at the west (handicapped) entrance, and space limitations within the individual offices, and lobby areas.
Masks are recommended, but generally not required for most services.
A DROP BOX is located in the courthouse parking lot near the brick garage. It is emptied several times each day by authorized personnel and is under 24/7 video surveillance. Citizens may use the drop box for documents, license plates, and payments. The drop box is a secure receptacle for voted ballots to be placed in during active elections.

Iowa Department of Public Health News Release: Certificate Exchange
Newborn birth certificates issued from May 1993 to October 2009 after the birth of a child in Iowa as a wallet sized card may be exchanged for a standard sized certificate. Please read the News Release for more information or call the Jones County Recorder at 319-462-2477, as we may be able to facilitate the exchange locally in our office.
Alert Iowa is live in Jones County! In the event of an emergency or severe weather, an alert can be sent to the phone number(s) you provide by voice and/or text and you can also register your email. If you know of someone that does not have access to the internet, please aid them in signing up. This is a free service provided by the State of Iowa. Click here to sign up. Veterans Designation on Drivers' License or NonOperator ID
Iowa veterans can now add a Veteran designation to their drivers license or nonoperator identification cards. PLEASE NOTE, this designation can only be added when the license or identification card is being renewed, or, if you are being issued for the first time. (For example, if you are moving in from out of state.) A link to the required form can be found by clicking here. Your County's Veterans Affairs office will need to complete part of that form before the designation can be added to your drivers license or identification card.
