City Candidate Filing Information 

Nomination filing period in the Jones County Auditor's Office:

Thursday, January 2, 2020 until 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2020

City Candidate Information (To Fill Vacancy)

The filing period for city election candidates began on Thursday, January 2, 2020 and runs through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2020.  Candidate nomination papers may be obtained from various sources, including the city clerk's office, the county auditor’s office, and the county web-site.  All city candidate nomination papers MUST be filed with the office of the County Auditor at the courthouse no later than 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2020.

All candidates must file a Nomination Petition containing 25 signatures of eligible electors of the city and a notarized Candidate Affidavit, with the County Auditor not later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2020.  The form links are included below.

The city council may temporarily fill the vacancy by appointment, however the candidate who wins the election will take office after the canvass of votes from the election. There are two years remaining in the term of office for this position.
